01 / The scienceWhat is an ultra-fine bubble?
Also known internationally as a nanobubble.
Ultra-fine bubbles — the international term is nanobubble — are bubbles smaller than one micrometer in diameter. UFB DUAL generates them by passing ordinary mains water through a precision brass body. No power. No chemicals. No moving parts.
The science is the same in both vocabularies. The water on the other side of the device is functionally different.

<200 nm
Diameter
Smaller than the wavelength of visible light. Water containing ultra-fine bubbles looks clear — and is.
Weeks ~ months
Stability
Unlike regular bubbles that rise and burst in seconds, UFBs remain suspended in water for extended periods.
ISO 20480-1
Standard
Internationally defined under the ISO Fine Bubble Technology standard. Same physics, recognised worldwide.
The Japanese / ISO term is ultra-fine bubble (UFB). The English-language research term is nanobubble. They refer to the same particle class under ISO 20480-1. We use both on this site interchangeably. UFB DUAL is the device that generates them at infrastructure scale.
