What is an ultra-fine bubble?

Also known internationally as a nanobubble.

Ultra-fine bubbles — the international term is nanobubble — are bubbles smaller than one micrometer in diameter. UFB DUAL generates them by passing ordinary mains water through a precision brass body. No power. No chemicals. No moving parts.

The science is the same in both vocabularies. The water on the other side of the device is functionally different.

The Japanese / ISO term is ultra-fine bubble (UFB). The English-language research term is nanobubble. They refer to the same particle class under ISO 20480-1. We use both on this site interchangeably. UFB DUAL is the device that generates them at infrastructure scale.

Both refer to bubbles below one micrometer in diameter under ISO 20480-1. UFB DUAL is the device that generates them at infrastructure scale — powered only by water pressure, with no electricity or chemicals.

Yes, for someone qualified to cut and re-join water main piping. The device is inserted in-line at the meter, before any branch — no electrical work, no controller, no calibration. Most installations are completed in under a day by a licensed plumbing contractor. We provide installation drawings and bore-specific instructions.

UFB DUAL is driven entirely by line pressure, so adequate pressure is required for full effect. Typical building and industrial mains are well within range. As part of free consultation, we ask for your incoming line pressure, pipe diameter, and concurrent demand, and confirm whether the recommended bore size will perform.

We ship internationally and provide remote engineering support for installations. The device itself is self-contained and requires no firmware updates, no recurring service contract, and no proprietary tooling. Most regions have local plumbing contractors who can install it from the documentation we provide.

There are no moving parts, no filters, no consumables, and no electronics. UFB DUAL operates passively on pressure. In ordinary water it has no service requirement. In water with extreme particulate load, a sediment pre-filter (a standard part) may be recommended — but that is also maintenance-free in normal use.

UFB density is verified by particle-counting laboratory equipment, not by visual inspection. (Ultra-fine bubbles are sub-200 nm — optically invisible.) Independent third-party labs in Japan have measured device output across the model lineup. Test reports are available on request.

The device holds JWWA (Japan Water Works Association) certification, which is the Japanese regulatory standard for in-line components on the drinking-water supply. For markets with different regulatory regimes, we work with your local authority to provide the documentation required.
